2007 George C. Marshall Foundation Award Dinner
The George C. Marshall Foundation honored The Honorable Lee Hamilton and Senator
John Warner with its coveted George C. Marshall Medal at a gala dinner at the
National Building Museum, in Washington, DC. Tributes were given by Senator
Richard Lugar and The Honorable Nancy Kassebaum Baker. Bob Schieffer, CBS News,
Chief Washington Correspondent, served as the evening’s Master of Ceremonies.

The Fulbright Association
2007 Lifetime Achievement Medal Dinner Celebrating the Association’s 30th
Anniversary
The Fulbright Association celebrated its 30th Anniversary with its black tie
Lifetime Achievement Dinner at the Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C. The
event honored three Fulbright alumni Craig R. Barrett, Chairman of the Board of
Intel; John Hope Franklin, James B. Duke Professor Emeritus of History at Duke
University; and Shirley Strum Kenny, President of Stony Brook University, with
the Association’s Lifetime Achievement Medal. Tributes were given by Ambassador
Charlene Barshefsky, Renee Poussaint, and James H. Simons. Featuring
performances by Quynh Nguyen, Pianist and Stacey Mastrian, Soprano.
Venue Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium. Attended by 250 guests.

The Fulbright Association
2006 Fulbright Prize
President William J. Clinton received the prestigious Fulbright Prize at a
ceremony and reception sponsored by the Fulbright Association. The event
featured tirbutes by former U.S. Secretary of State, Madeleine K. Albright,
Chairman & CEO of The Coca-Cola Company, Neville Isdell and former Arkansas
Governor and Senator, David Pryor. Special video tribute by UN Secretary
General, Kofi Annan.
Venue: The International Monetary Fund. Attended by 600 guests. |

2006 Howard Hughes Medical Institute’s Opening of
Janelia Farm Research Campus
The Howard Hughes Medical Institute unveiled its new research facility, Janelia
Farm Research Campus, in Ashburn, Virginia. The opening events spanned 5 days
including a gala dinner for the Howard Hughes trustees with special guest
Virginia Governor Timothy Kaine. The week of events also included a Symposium,
VIP Open House & Reception for Loudoun County Officials and prominent business
leaders, and a Public Open House for residents of Loudoun County.
Attendance at all events ranged from 250 to approximately 3,000 guests at the
Public Open House. |

Global Rights Partners in Justice
"25th Anniversary Celebration"
The organization formerly known as the International Human Rights Law Group announced its new name and celebrated its 25th anniversary with a tribute to the music and poetry that has inspired the struggle for human rights around the world. The evening included songs, poetry and testimonials by artists and activists from Afghanistan, Africa, Bosnia, Cambodia and South America. NAACP Chairman Julian Bond served as Master of Ceremonies. Special musical performances by Sweet Honey in the Rock and the Washington Performing Arts Society’s Men and Women of the Gospel Choir. Venue: Grand Hyatt. Attended by 400 guests.

Children’s Defense Fund 25th
Anniversary Gala Celebration, a 90-minute original production of music,
song and dance which showcased the talents of well-known artists and those
of a new generation of young people in the arts. This celebration,
entitled "Legacy" was hosted by Sidney Poitier and his daughter,
Sydney, and featured performances by Denyce Graves, Graham Nash, Phylicia
Rashad, and Elisabeth Shue. Lansdale Associates served as Executive

50th Anniversary of the Marshall Plan Gala honoring the United States’ greatest foreign policy initiative, the Marshall Plan. This historic occasion featured the presentation of the first George C. Marshall Foundation Award to
German Chancellor Dr. Helmut Kohl. General Colin Powell served as the evening’s Master of Ceremonies with participation by
President Gerald Ford, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, Former President of France Valery Giscard d’Estaing, Dr. Henry
Kissinger, Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, Secretary of Defense William Cohen and many other dignitaries from around the world. The evening’s performances included a dramatization of Marshall’s Nobel Prize speech by actor
Cliff Robertson and an opening ceremony with opera star Helen Goldsby.
